Article Review Assignment
The Article Review assignment in MGMT1030 asks you to choose one of the listed articles, which deal with a topic related to the course, and write a brief (700-750
word) review of the article. A good article review does more than state what the article is about. It includes a brief summary, but also looks at the quality of writing, the nature of the sources used and the success or failure of the author in establishing the point or points they considered important. Questions to be considered should include:
• What is the author arguing in this article? What does the author consider
important?
• Does the author make the case?
• How well written was the article?
• What sort of sources has the author used?
• What bias or unsupported opinion does the author display?
The purpose of the paper is to let the student present their analysis so quotes from the article, especially lengthy ones, should be avoided. Summarize in your own words but include references to indicate where in the article the material came from. Parenthetical references, indicating the page number, are acceptable for citations from the article under review. You should include a reference when you quote, but also when you use statistics, facts not accepted as common knowledge, and when you attribute opinion.
You do not need to, nor should you use any sources apart from the article under review.
The paper will be graded not only on the accuracy of your analysis, but also on how effectively you make your case. The paper should be free of spelling and grammar
mistakes. It should have a clear introduction and conclusion and be written in well structured paragraphs. Point form is not acceptable. Use a simple 12-point font and
standard one inch margins.
