Elaborate on an example from an observation of a person you know well, of how (a) self-efficacy, (b) worldviews, and (c) personality characteristics influence how they engage environments. Discuss how this has affected their developmental paths, or might affect those paths in the future.
Please note: use the concept of self-efficacy as presented in the lecture/readings. “Worldviews” means concentrating on personal values (what is important) and on aspects like “the world is relatively safe” or “the world is a dangerous place.” Personality characteristics include things like extroversion, optimism, etc.

Lecture notes:
Efficacy
– the logical consequence of combining observational learning and reciprocal determinism
– learning the association between one’s effort/attempts and the result – and using that to guide expectations about future effort/attempts.
self-efficacy
– if the association between effort -> desired result is strong, the person develops an attitude of confidence and mastery
– If the association between effort -> desired result is weak or non-existent, the person develops an attitude of helplessness
– these attitudes affect how a person interacts with the environment, affecting their development
